防衛大学校のOBテニス大会で嬉しかったこと、三つ
一つ
私たち18期生は優勝しました。
私たちのクラスは、いつも優勝していました。
しかし、私が初めて参加した昨年は、優勝できませんでした。
今年は、試合に向けて、一年間、時々集まって練習をしました。
その甲斐があって、優勝することができました。
二つ
学生時代には知らなかった人に会うことができた。
ここで知り合わなければ、全く知らないままに死んでいたでしょう。
ここで 死ぬ前に会えたことが嬉しいのです
12人のグループの内、私が学生の時から知っていたのは、たった２人です。
その者とも学生時代から40年、話をしたこともありません。
学生の時、同級生は500人いました。
それぞれが陸海空に別れ、死んだ者もいます。
その中で12人の仲間と知り合えたことは、奇跡のような事です。
久しぶりに顔見知りの後輩や先輩に会うこともできました。
人生の最後において 知り合えるということが本当に嬉しいです
三つ
同期生の意外な側面を知ることができました。
その人は、学生時代は、バレーボールの選手でした。私は、頭の軽い運動選手なのだろうという印象を持っていました。陸上自衛隊に入りパイロットをしていました。
ところが、その者が、読書家でトランプ支持者であることを知りました。非常に陰謀論について詳しく勉強してました。
それで、人は印象だけではわからないものだ、と思いました。人生の最後において、人を深く知ることができました。これも本当に 嬉しいことでした。
Three things that made me happy at the Defense Academy alumni tennis tournament
First,
we, the 18th class, won. Our class always won. However, last year, when I participated for the first time, we were unable to win. This year, we practiced from time to time for the tournament throughout the year. This effort was worth it, so we won.
Second,
I was able to meet people I didn’t know when I was a student. If I hadn’t met them there, I would have died without ever knowing them. I’m glad that I was able to meet them before I died.
Of the group of 12, there were only two people I knew from my student days. I haven’t spoken to them for 50 years since my student days. When I was a student, there were about 500 students. 400 students joined the army, navy, and air force, and some of us died. It was a miracle that I was able to meet those 12 of my classmates. I am really happy to be able to get to know 10 people at the end of my life.
3rd.
I was able to learn an unexpected side of my classmate.
He was a volleyball player in our school days. I had the impression that he was a light-headed athlete. He joined the Ground Self-Defense Force and became a pilot.
However, I learned that he was an avid reader and a Trump supporter. He had studied conspiracy theories in great detail.
So I realized that you can’t really tell a person’s true character from impressions alone. I was able to get to know a person deeply at the end of my life. This was also really nice.
