この正月期間、私に老いが迫ってきたことを感じました。
12月20日に一人の警備員の同僚が、転んで肋骨を折ってしまいました。
先輩の同僚は76歳です。彼は、不意に転んでしまったそうです。
そのため、正月期間は、彼の代わりに多くの日数を働きました。
12月18日に自衛隊時代の上司の杉原さんから「パソコンの操作をまた教えてくれ」と電話がありました。それで、12月25日に彼の家に伺いました。彼は86歳です。
奥さんによると、彼は、台所で何をしていいかわからなくなって、ボーっとしている時があるそうです。
彼自身も、何もわからなくなる時がある、と言っていました。
それでも状態が良くなったので、パソコンを使って資料を整理したいと思うようになった、と言っていました。
パソコンを調べてみると、前に作ったデータは全てなくなっていました。
認知症になると、自分が今どこにいるのか、今日は何日なのかわからなくなってしまうということです。彼の場合は、これにあたると思います。
それで2月になったらまた電話して、様子を伺うことにしました。
105歳まで生きた日野原重明という有名な医者がいます。彼は最後まで意識がはっきりしていました。
人によっていつ認知症になるかわかりません。転んでいつ骨折するかわかりません。怖いことですが必ず死にます。これは自分の近い未来です。

During this New Year period, I felt that old age sickness was approaching me.
On December 20th, one of my security colleagues fell and broke a rib. My senior colleague is 76 years old. He fell unexpectedly. As a result, I worked many days in his place during the New Year period.
On December 18th, I received a call from Sugihara, my boss from my time in the Self-Defense Forces, who asked me to teach him how to use a computer again. So, I visited his house on December 25th. He is 86 years old.
According to his wife, there are times when he doesn’t know what to do in the kitchen and just sits there blankly.
He himself said that there are times when he doesn’t know anything.
However, he said that his condition has improved, so he wants to use the computer to organize his documents.
When I checked the computer, all the data he had created before was gone.
When you develop dementia, you lose track of where you are and what day it is. I think this is what happened to him.
So I decided to call him again in February to see how he was doing.
There is a famous doctor named Hinohara Shigeaki who lived to be 105 years old. He was conscious until the very end.
Depending on the person, you never know when you will develop dementia. You never know when you will fall and break a bone. It’s scary, but you will definitely die. This is in my near future.
