日本人は、戦後、アジアに侵略したので悪い国であるという風に教育を受けてきました。
私は、父親が、「日本の軍部が悪かったから戦争に負けたんだ。日本が負けて、アメリカ人に占領されて良かった。」と言っているのを聞いたことがあります。それで、自然に、私は、「日本は民主化が遅れた悪い国だ。」、「日本は、アジアに侵攻したので、アジアの諸国には迷惑をかけた。」と思っていました。
それで、ほとんどすべての日本人は、誇りを失うようになっています。
この原因の一つは、戦争後にアメリカ軍に占領され、アメリカを批判することが一切禁止されたことにあります。アメリカ軍としては、「この戦争の責任は日本の悪い軍部である。」という見方で、日本を統治しました。
戦後50年にしてやっと、客観的な立場で日本史を見ることができるようになりました。

This is “Nihonkokuki” written by Hyakuta Naoki. If you read this book, I think you will feel proud of Japanese.
This book was written by the novelist Hyakuta Naoki. Therefore, it is a very easy-to-read general history of Japan. He summarizes the controversial points concisely.
About 40 years ago, a movement to reexamine Japanese history began. This group created the “Society for Reforming New History Textbooks” and has published many history books that make Japanese people proud of themselves. The people in this group are not mainstream Japanese historians. They are all university professors in other fields. This book is also part of that group’s trend.
The Japanese have been educated that they are a bad country because we invaded Asia during World war2.
I once heard my father say, “Japan lost the war because the military was bad. I’m glad Japan lost and was occupied by the Americans.” So, naturally, I thought, “Japan is a bad country. Japan is lagging behind in democratization” and “Japan invaded Asia,causing trouble for Asian countries.”
So, almost all Japanese people have lost their pride.
One of the reasons for this is that after the war, Japan was occupied by the US military, and criticism of America was completely prohibited. The US military ruled Japan with the view that “Japan’s evil military is responsible for this war.”
Fifty years after the war, we are finally able to look at Japanese history from an objective standpoint.
If you read this book, you will see that Japan also has good points. You will understand that Japan is not the only one responsible for starting the war.
