私は社会習慣の奴隷です。
私は、年末の29日に大掃除を行いました。
毎年、暮れの寒い時に、大掃除をします。
私は、やりたくて大掃除をしているのではありません。
妻からの強制がありますので、やらなければならないことです。
しかし、一番の理由は、身体にしみついた習慣で、私は、大掃除をしなければならないと思うからです。
妻も、暖かい時期に掃除をすれば良いと言っているのですが、必ず大掃除を始めます。
今年も、年末に一日中大掃除を行いました。今年は幸いにもいい天気でしたのでそんなに寒くありませんでした。良かったです。
大掃除とは、普段できない部分まで掃除をすることです。
私は、雨戸やサッシを外し、敷居の隅のゴミをふき取りました。
私は、通常は、障子の紙も張り替えますが、今年は、張り替えませんでした。
私は、家の周りのフェンスの細部まで拭きました。
その後、妻は、正月料理を作りました。
今年は、孫たちも来ないので多くはありませんでしたが、やはり作っていました。
妻は、元日は、ニューイヤー駅伝、二日、三日と箱根駅伝を見ていました。
変わらない習慣です。
今年の正月は、二人だけで静かに過ごしました。
私は、「日本という社会習慣の奴隷のようだなあ」と思いました。
A big cleaning on the 29th of the end of the year
I am a slave to the customs of Japan.
I did a big cleaning on the 29th of the end of the year.
Every year, when it’s cold at the end of the year, I do a big cleaning.
I do not want to do a big cleaning up in winter. I have to do it because my wife forces me to do it. But the main reason is because I think I have to do a big cleaning because of my strong habits. My wife also says she should do the big cleaning in the warmer months, but she always starts a big cleaning at the end of the year.
This year also, we did a big cleaning all day on the 29th at the end of the year. Luckily, this year the weather was nice, so it wasn’t that cold. It was good.
A big cleaning is cleaning up the parts that you can’t usually do. I took off the shutters and sashes and wiped off the dust on the corners of the threshold. I usually repaper shoji paper, but this year I didn’t. I wiped every corner on the fence around the house.
My wife cooked New Year’s dishes.
This year, my grandchildren were not coming, so there weren’t many, but she was still making them.
My wife watched the New Year Ekiden on New Year’s Day. On the 2nd and 3rd, she watched the Hakone Ekiden. It’s her habit that doesn’t change.
This year’s New Year was spent quietly with just the two of us.
I thought, “I feel like I’m a slave to the social customs of Japan.”
