人生の最高の喜びは、古い友人とお茶を飲むことです。
先週の土曜日に友人の庭でお茶を飲みました。
それは、楽しい野外パーティーでした。
春になってキルタンサスの花がさきました。
これは、4年前に友人Wさんから貰ったものです。
私がパソコン修理の仕事を始めるということで、 友人W さんには、最初のお客さんになってもらいました。
その時、野菜とか花とかをいただきました。これが今年も花が咲いたのです。
彼とは、しばらく会っていないので、生存確認のメールを出しました。
花は咲いているので、あなたの大きなお庭でお茶を飲みたいとメールを送りました。
これは、書いてはいませんが、あなたは生きていますか、というのと同じ意味です。
返信があって、会いに行くという事にしました。
マスコミでは、コロナ感染症の第四波が来そうだと大騒ぎをしていました。
それで、私は、会いに行くのを止めようかと悩みました。
しかし、庭でお茶なら大丈夫だろうと思い、行くことにしました。
庭は、50坪もあり、彼は、たくさんの種類の野菜やお花を育てています。
彼の家は、駅の近くです。そこに広い家庭菜園があるというは、贅沢な家だ、と思います。
お茶会は天気でした。太陽は暖かく、寒くありませんでした。
駐車場のスペースに野外椅子と机を並べ、お茶、アルコールフリーのビールを飲み、寿司を食べました。
彼は、IHIの社員でした。若い時にアルゼンチンに駐在し、ウルグアイで発電所建設のプロジェクトに携わったことがありました。
彼には、その発電所の建設に携わった技術者の友人がいました。
それで、私がウルグアイに行った時、彼の友人にであるにも会ってきました。
私にとって、人生の最高の喜びは、古い友人とお茶を飲むことです。

I had a tea party in Mr. Watanabe’s garden last Saturday.It was a fun outdoor party.
In spring, the flowers of Kirtansus came out.
This is what I got from Mr. Watanabe four years ago.
Watanabe-san became the first customer when I started the computer repair work.

So I was wondering if I should stop going to see him.
However, I decided to go because I thought that tea would be okay in the garden.
The garden is 165 meter square, 50 tsubo and he grows many kinds of vegetables and flowers.
His house is near the Tobu-Kamagaya station. I think that having a large vegetable garden is a luxury home.
The tea party was sunny. The sun was warm and comfortable. We stood up 4 outdoor chairs and 2 desks in the parking space, drank tea, Asahi Super Dry alcohol-free beer, and ate sushi.
He was an employee of IHI. He was stationed in Argentina when he was young and was involved in a power plant construction project in Uruguay.
He had a friend of engineers who was involved in the project. So when I went to Uruguay, I also met his friend.
For me, the greatest joy of life is drinking tea with my old friends.
